At 1.30pm today (17th March 2020)a statement was made by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. It reads as follows:
In light of the Government guidance around non-essential contact, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued advice that public worship is suspended until further notice.
In other words – there will be no services of worship in the churches for the foreseeable future. The Archbishops have requested that churches which are usually open remain open and that we continue to support Food Banks and Refuges wherever possible. At the moment there have been no guidelines regarding occasional offices such as weddings, baptisms and funerals. We await further information in these realms.
